Visiting Berlin

Berlin is not only the largest city in Germany, but is also the capital city with a population of 3.4 million people. It is located in the northeastern part of the country. This city is a major center of politics, science, culture, and media in the European continent. The economy thrives on a variety of creative industries, environmental services, and media corporations. Berlin is at the center of much European transport, both by air and rail. It currently is one of top tourist destinations in Europe.

There are a huge selection of architectural wonders, museums, theaters, opera houses, public parks (the largest and most popular being Tiergarten) and monuments as further evidence of the city's love of art and beauty. There are a number of ways that you take all this in. Bus tours, boat tours, walking, bicycling, or riding the tram are all options for exploring the city.

For visiting families, Berlin has a large zoo and aquarium. Another attraction that you don't want to miss is the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche. Much can be learned about World War II here. The Holocaust Museum is another important historical place to visit. The Berlin Cathedral is also an important tourist destination. It is the largest Protestant church in Berlin and also serves as the grave of the Prussian Hohenzollern dynasty.

Suffice it to say, there is enough to see and do here to keep you occupied for quite a length of time. Regardless of the length of your stay or your budget, we will be happy to you with your accommodation needs. The city is so large that if you are basically interested in the sights and attractions in on particular area (i.e. Brandenburg Gate or Unter den Linden), we will see to it that you find the perfect apartment in Berlin to stay in that area. Be sure to check out what local events will be going on during your stay. Berlin looks forward to your visit!

Being Ich bin ein Berliner

Former US President John F. Kennedy once said it and it is a sentiment that many visitors may well be inclined to say themselves once they have been in Berlin for a sufficient period of time - Ich bin ein Berliner!  Translated loosely, it means "I am one with the people of Berlin" although urban legend says that JFK was essentially saying "I am jelly doughnut"

Anyways, Berlin is a city to love.  Visitors and residents alike bask in the atmosphere of tolerance in the city, which welcomes everybody regardless of race, religion and nationality.  This is in stark contrast with the notion that Berlin is a city where German pride is alive and well but fanatically so.

And it is in this tolerant atmosphere that the lifestyle of many Berliners revolves on.  The cultural and social calendars of the city evoke the international communities present from the East to the West and everything else in between.  You can choose from numerous venues for cultural and social expressions like the theaters, museums, cinemas and orchestras as well as the requisite nightclubs, pubs and discos.  Better yet, you can always ask the locals who are more than happy to guide you to the nearest place of revelry.

Now, if you are one for getting close to Mother Nature, Berlin also offers activities to love in the active lifestyle.  Use bikes and inline skates to explore the paths and tracks in the surrounding parks of the city, all of which attest to the fact that Berliners are sports-loving people.

But of course, Berliners are fond and proud of their clubs.  After all, the saying that where two Berliners meet, a club shall form is as true today as it was in olden days.  You can choose from more than 600,000 registered clubs and thousands more unregistered ones, many of which are about sports.  We did mention that Berliners love sports.

But of course, Berlin is a cosmopolitan city where shopping is as dear to the hearts of the people as sports are to their bodies.  And so, shops and boutiques are de rigueur in Berlin, thus, making it one of the more expensive cities in the region.

Also, Berliners love their beer and their foods.  Thus, you will find many residents flocking to food and drink festivals featuring their favorite beers and wines and assorted meats and potato dishes.  Be prepared to be surrounded by good people out to have a good time with family and friends, including your party of tourists.

If you are in Berlin for an educational tour, you will not be disappointed.  Berliners are very proud of their educational system, which is one of the best in the world.  Otherwise, you will not expect Berliners to be fluent in English, will you?  And then your life as a tourist in Berlin may just be a little bit harder than it is now.

And speaking of being tourists in Berlin, you have to find your accommodations preferably one of the Berlin holiday apartments before arriving in the city.  This is possible thanks to the Internet and online reservation sites that allow for fast, easy and convenient booking of apartments for your vacation in proud Berlin.
